Career Reentry Resume Tips for Mature Professionals
If you are over 55 years old and have concerns about age discrimination in the interview, you are not alone. Research by AARP, formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons (http://www.aarp.org) shows that discrimination against older people in the workplace is pervasive. Although there are laws that protect jobseekers and employees from age discrimination, it is possible that a recruiter’s perception of your age might be used against you during a job search.
Many say age discrimination is very subtle and more difficult to prove since most people genuinely think that the normal process in the workplace is for younger workers to replace older ones. Although this may have been the generally accepted practice in the past, today’s workforce has multiple generations coexisting in the workplace at the same time.
Career Change – Are you afraid to move in this economy?

The buzz right now is that everyone is holding on to their current jobs with a death grip due to the grim economy. What is also true is that there are job openings. People move, get promoted or something continues to pull people out of their jobs every day. There are jobs. Maybe not as many and maybe the competition for the ones that come available are stiff BUT there are jobs that need to be filled. One thing is also true; you won’t get any of them if you don’t try.
Career Change – How To Get Into The Retail Market
Most major holidays are usually the busiest for the retail industry. They will need people in all departments from stocking clerks to management. If you have ever thought about making a career change to the retail industry any major holiday season is the best time to get a job as they won’t have enough people to handle all the customers that they anticipate for the sales promotions they’ve created.
If you have a particular hobby or item that you are crazy about is there a store that you could possibly see yourself working? For example if you are an electronics nut then you might enjoy working at your local electronics store. If fashion is more your thing then a retail job geared towards the up and coming fashion would be more appropriate. As you love the items that you are selling it will come across as a natural sales talent and will convey to the customers as well as the people you are trying to get a job with. If you already have an idea about the items you are selling it makes it that much easier to do your job.
